Establishing clinical services for EILO and ILO/VCD is of critical importance, and though a handful of successful services exist internationally, there is ample scope for geographical scale-up.
The ideal model for both EILO and ILO/VCD is multidisciplinary in nature because of the complex and often subspecialty nature of the work-up and management. Existing multidisciplinary team (MDT) services are generally willing to share expertise and experience, and are often willing to help up-skill interested healthcare professionals. Though there are no randomized data or comparative data between approaches, improved patient outcomes have been reported in association with MDTs.
